Writing from my Heart
KJ Steven's musical journey can only be described as a 'dream and vision' that wouldn't shake itself when the morning broke.
Karen Elizabeth Jones was born exactly 10 minutes after her twin sister, making her the youngest of three girls to be raised in the honeymoon capital of the World'. Elementary school talent shows provided her an outlet and gave her youthful mischievousness a purpose. Producing and directly choreographed group renditions of 'Teddy Bear's Picnic' by the age of 8, it was not long before people began to take note of her exceptional voice. Commanding and yet west, haunting but pure......Karen's intense soprano 'take' on some of the most loved musical scores of our time made her an obvious choice to play 'Dorothy' in the Wizard of Oz and 'Mother Superior' in the Sound of Music.
Great songs come from life experiences and the yearning to express oneself through melody is an itch that cannot be scratched without giving into the song.
Karen's music is eclectic and multi-genre, coming from the many facets of her own life and the experiences of others. Her intense and electrifying voice denotes a humility that resonates with all ages.
Humour, pain, passion, social consciousness....are all simply and beautifully brought to life through her candid lyrics and emotion evoking melodies.
Karen would like to be thought of as an open book....sharing the highs and lows of her life through the healing and uplifting medium of music. It is this ability to bring laughter and challenge and unshakeable 'ear worms' through her addictive melodies that define Karen Jones as an edgy artist with an unassuming integrity.
Be it her mesmerizing voice, musical creativity, spunk, style or magnetic smile.....audiences are left feeling better and more inspired than when they walked in. This gal will make you think, laugh, dance and 'lift your hands up in the air'! She may even inspire you to start putting your own thoughts to music because in her own words she assets, "There can never ever be too many songs!"
